The second shipment of humanitarian aid from Russia—14 tons of food supplies—has arrived in Seychelles.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Russia to Seychelles, Artyom Kozhin; the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment of Seychelles, Patrick Payet; the Chief Executive Officer of STC, Patrick Vel; his deputy, Jean-Baptiste; as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic.
“Seychelles, as a small island developing state, is highly dependent on supply chains that are currently under threat due to the conflict in the Middle East. Given the current circumstances, the Government of Russia has decided to contribute to the continued sustainable development of the Republic of Seychelles by sending a shipment of humanitarian aid to Victoria,” Kozhin stated during the handover ceremony.
According to the Russian ambassador, the second shipment of aid includes sunflower oil, sugar, rice, tomato paste, rolled oats, semolina, buckwheat, and other essential goods.
For his part, Payet, on behalf of the head of state, expressed gratitude to Russia for providing the humanitarian aid shipment.
The Seychellois State Secretary noted that Russia’s assistance helps meet the needs of the local population and maintain the standard of living that tourists expect to encounter.
