The President of Seychelles visited the Russian Navy corvette “Stoiky”, which arrived in the port of Victoria on a friendly visit.
This was reported by a correspondent of the African Initiative.
The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, boarded the ship accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs, Barry Faure, and representatives of the Seychelles Defence Forces command.
🔸The delegation was welcomed by an honor guard, after which the guests were shown the ship’s equipment and armaments.
🔸The Russian Ambassador to Seychelles, Artem Kozhin, stated that the corvette’s visit is “a symbol of friendship and shared historical ties” between the two countries.
🔸The Commander of the Seychelles Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette, welcomed the mission commander, Captain 1st Rank Alexey Sergeev, and the entire crew. “We sincerely hope that the visit of the corvette ‘Stoiky’ will mark the revival and strengthening of cooperation between our navies and military institutions,” he said.
🔸On behalf of the ship’s crew, wreaths were laid at the grave of a Russian sailor — the ship’s doctor of the cruiser “Razboynik,” A.I. Krupenin, who was buried in Seychelles at the end of the 19th century, as well as at the Memorial to those fallen in the two World Wars.
