Maslenitsa Celebrated in the Seychelles

Maslenitsa was celebrated on the island of Mahé in the Republic of Seychelles. The festivities were organized by the African Initiative news agency.

The celebration brought together Russian compatriots permanently residing and working in the Seychelles, representatives of Russian businesses, staff of the Russian Embassy, and local residents. Among the distinguished guests was a representative of the Office of the President of Seychelles.

The official part of the event was opened by Alexander Odoevsky, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Russian Federation to the Seychelles.

“I am pleased to welcome the African Initiative and its representative in the Seychelles. I trust that the agency’s work will contribute to the development of Russian–Seychellois relations and will help present Russia more fully to the people of Seychelles and Seychelles to the people of Russia,” the diplomat emphasized.

Guests were offered traditional Maslenitsa treats — freshly baked blini with a variety of fillings. The tea reception was accompanied by Russian folk songs.
