The Russian tourist flow to the Seychelles in 2023 not only exceeded the volume of 2022 by 24.8%, but also broke its previous historical record, surpassing it by 18%. In 2024, the tourism authorities of the islands expect an increase in the Russian tourist flow by another 5%.
According to the results of 2023, the Russian tourist traffic to the Seychelles amounted to 38,172 visits. This is very close to the forecasts of the island authorities, who expected a tourist flow of "about 40 thousand".
The Seychelles has become an almost year–round destination for Russians, thanks in no small part to direct flights operated by Aeroflot.
About 62% of Russians (slightly less than two thirds) arrive in the Seychelles by direct flights. The rest choose flights with connections (mainly in the UAE, Qatar, as well as in Ethiopia).
As Mr. Sylvester Radegonde, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, told Vestnik ATOR in their December interview, the main plan of the state tourism authorities assumed that the tourist flow from Russia would keep increasing by 5% annually.
Mr. Minister also did not rule out that in the future Russia might become the first inbound market for the Seychelles in terms of the number of visits.
