On May 9, the Republic of Seychelles hosted a series of solemn events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The program included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial to the Fallen in the World Wars, the “Immortal Regiment” and “St. George Ribbon” campaigns, as well as a formal reception held at the Tobruk Club, the veterans' association of the Seychelles Armed Forces.
The commemorative events were attended by prominent dignitaries, including former Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles Vincent Meriton, Secretary of the National Security Council B.Hoareau, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs S.Pillay, Commissioner of Police T.Barbe, Mayor of Victoria Lydia Charlie, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Ambassador A. Azais, ambassadors of friendly nations, representatives of the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities, a delegation of Russian coaches participating in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025, athletes of the Belarusian national team, staff of the Russian Embassy, and members of the Russian compatriot community.
