Aeroflot Resumes Flights to the Seychelles After Seasonal Break

An Aeroflot flight from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport landed at Seychelles International Airport in Victoria on July 8, an African Initiative correspondent reported. The aircraft was welcomed at the airport by the Russian Consul to the Seychelles, Alexander Mamin.

While flights between Moscow and Victoria were previously operated only from September through May, in line with the Seychelles’ peak tourist season, Aeroflot will now serve the route year-round.

The airline will operate two flights per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with return flights scheduled on the same days. The journey takes approximately 9.5 hours, and the time difference between Moscow and the Seychelles is one hour. Russian citizens will also continue to enjoy visa-free entry for stays of up to 30 days.

Speaking to an African Initiative correspondent, Russian Ambassador to the Seychelles Artem Kozhin said that the resumption of direct flights from Moscow had been welcomed across the archipelago “with genuine enthusiasm.”

“Over the five years since the restoration of regular air service between Moscow and Victoria, Aeroflot has become a key contributor to the local economy, which is heavily dependent on tourism. The Russian carrier is rightly regarded here as a reliable partner, ensuring a steady flow of visitors to the archipelago,” the ambassador said.
