A screening of the documentary We Believed, dedicated to the history of friendly relations between Russia and the island nation of Seychelles, was held in Seychelles!

The event was organized by the African Initiative news agency in cooperation with the Russian Embassy and was dedicated to the birthday of the renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. “The people of your beautiful country show great interest in Russian civilization, Russian culture, Russian literature, and in Pushkin. Believe me, this interest is mutual,” said Dmitry Iordanidi, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy, in his welcoming remarks.

Following the screening, Seychellois artist Lindsay Payet, lead vocalist of the local band Zenith, shared her impressions of the film. She noted that cooperation between the two countries is now entering an active new phase.

The documentary was also highly praised by Seychellois entrepreneur Trivediraj Singh Jibaun, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of C&J QAPITAL. He expressed his gratitude to African Initiative for organizing Pushkin Day and thanked the Russian Embassy for providing Russian language courses, noting that learning the language has helped him expand his business opportunities.
